As the title suggests the seagulls are flying high in our first season in the Blue Square Premier.
We kicked off the new season with a home tie against kettering. A game that i thought i would stand a great chance, and i great chance it actually was.
Created many opportunities and debuten Josh Rees kicks us off to a flyer within two minutes we were 1-0 up. Within 16 minutes after that we were already 3-1 to the good, and i was thinking how much more humiliating will it get for kettering. A penalty in the 36 minute more or less wrapped up the game already.
With that result behide us i was confident going into the next run of games, however 3 consecutive draws i was thinking we were going to crash back down to earth, but we responded well with 2 consecutive 3-0 wins, 1 against relegated Morcombe which was pleasing! Kidderminster was probably our hardest victory of the lot, nothing to separate the two sides, all it could take was a FABULOUS strike from young Josh Rees which grabbed us all 3 points. That goal aswell also won him goal of the month.
Hayes & Yeading was definitely our worst performance of the campaign so far, not just result wise, but we could not create 1 decent chance as the stats will now show.
7 Shots, 6 off target. We couldn’t even create a half chance, but fair play to Hayes they did defend well against us and did deserve the victory, that loss was going to come sooner or later. We were currently on a 16 unbeaten streak continuing from the season before. However we did respond well with a 3-2 victory. Should have been 3-1. but our sloppy freekick gave them the ball straight away and, well the rest is said on the 3rd goal of goal of the month.
Pretty good september even with 1 or 2 dodgy results gave me the manager of the month award which i was surprised to receive, maybe it was because of the position we currently stand in the table.
Yes, we stand 3rd in the league currently. Very happy with the opening of the campaign. However i’m not getting carried away just yet. we haven’t played any of the top 7 so far. Them games will really show the strength our our squad. Poor Bishop, they look like there already relegated, 31 goals conceded already.
I would like to point out a outstanding performer for Weston this season. We not just this season, last season aswell. James Cronseberry. Anyone doing a lower league career i do recommend him. The attacking left midfielder just performers game after game. Another bonus, is that his fitness is second to none. Can play every game this season probably. Played every game last season i’m pretty sure and will again, his stats just keep on improving. Love him! His performances in September also won him player of the month, along with centre back  Chris McCready.
That Jake Howells looks a good player too, if Luton don’t go up and i do, take a cheeky look, and play Cronesberry at wide right
.
We have a difficult 2 months ahead of next next update. We play all of the the top 7 sides. So picking up points against struggling Southport and Bishop’s Stortford is vitally important. Our chances of winning against the top sides have taken abit of a blow with a few injuries we have at the minute.
Brett Trowbridge and Shane Williams are key first team player in our team, while Andy Holdsworth and Michael Ordish give me decent back up. So a few reserve teams players will be introduced this season, but i have faith in players such as Matthew Huxley, who wasn’t really in my plans, but scored and set up one against Lincoln.
That more or less sums up, our first two months of the campaign, i just have one more little thing to add. Right, i must have one of the most generous boards in the game. First they decided to build a new stadium, didn’t need it, but okay, but now they keep injecting cash into the club. Im not complaining but they have done on 3/4 occasions since the end of last season. Our finances are not really in any trouble, infact its healthy than last season, even with the new stadium being built. Im sure there will be a twist somewhere i just know it!
Just two examples of the injecting the cash!
Thats it from me now. If there is anything i can improve on, just comment, ill take as much as i can onboard.
Cheers Lads!
